Granitebeard Grumblers vs Doom Lords

20th October 2021

HHHHHEEEEEYYYYYYYY THERE SPORTS FANS!!!

We’re back for the Northern Wastes League and have reached the half way point and it’s been an exciting one and by that, I mean brutal, which is what we are expecting from today’s match. Today the Granitebeard Grumblers are playing host to the Doomlords, in the bowl of Karak 8 peaks, and the weather seems perfect for the match as long as the sun stays behind those clouds.

If you remember the last match between these two teams resulted in a draw and a quarter of each team being sent to the dug out with various injuries, so I doubt they’ll be holding back this time too, especially with the Doomlords new signing Thunderhorn, seven-foot-tall wall of crazed muscle with horns. Well, what more do you expect from a minotaur?

The ticket sales today show a whopping 10,000 fans. What’s this The Doomslords Coach Alkazraran is chatting with a member of the crowd…. Seems like something is going on but we can’t quite see from this angle, looks like a beastman from the crowd is joining the team.

The team captains approach the middle of the pitch for the coin toss. It looks like the Grumblers have chosen to receive.

Doomlords reining in their new signing and keeping him off the line of scrimmage, and placing their journey beastman on the line of scrimmage with the other blockers. Udhgush and Udhgrur on the wings and two beastmen covering the back field.

Grumblers are mirroring the beastmen with Flint and Barak holding back to receive the ball.

There’s the kick and it’s heading deep into the Grumblers half. Flint is already running (on the ball) and the Grumblers are quick off the mark (Quick snap).

DT1. The Grumblers slayers in almost unison are assaulting the beastmen on the flanks. Udhgrur is flat on his face following a head butt from Thogek, and Kamnic shunts Udhgrur off the pitch into the crowd, who surfs him back to the dug-out. Gromnir Stoneshoulder is supporting Kamnic preventing the same happening to the slayer. Gotrimm throws the unnamed beastman to the floor, and Thorif shunts Krolok to the ground. The Grumblers on the front line are taking no prisoners. Flint heads to the ball, but he’s over shot it and can’t get his hands on.

CT1. The Doomlords heads rattling get up and hit back. Obhgus and Unrol double back behind the line of scrimmage offering support, whilst Thunderhorn releases his fury on Thorif who is sent flying back to the floor. Mornaargh, lives up to his name by sending Thorek to the dug-out. Barely into the match and the Grumblers are a beard down already. Mazerakh clears some room, with a kick to Albric’s stomach sending him back but not down.

DT2. Thogek, not wanting to miss out on the fun knocks Unrol down to the ground, whilst Thror shoulder barges Thunderhorn back, but the minotaur stays on his feet. Gholgur is thrown by Gotrimm and is seeing stars. Flint goes for the ball again, and looks like his beard is in the way, but he’s managed to get it (sure hands) and is off down the field. Albric dodges out of the clutches of Mornaargh and Mazerakh.

CT2. Udhgush jumps up landing on those cloven hooves and with head down rams literally into Thogek, knocking him to the ground. Whilst Krolock pushes Kamnic. But the new “player” shows his inexperience but blocking Storaz and slips on the astrogranite and slides at the dwarf’s feet.

DT3. Flint comes up the field towards the line of scrimmage, whilst the rest of the dwarf line try to clear a path. Kamnic is up on his feet and body slams into Krolok sending him crashing to the ground. Barak and Albric push Obhgus and Mornaargh away from centre field, whilst Gromnir send Unrol down to the ground. Thogek barges Mazerakh back before both bounce off each other.

CT3. Odthul moves up from the rear line, and Thunderhorn ploughs into Thorif and that is a hard landing. The stretcher crew manage to distract Thuderhorn enough to slide Thorif to the dug out. It looks like a bad blow, but the dwarf’s apothecary is already on the scene and seems he’s patched him up (apothecary re-roll makes his just badly hurt). Grumblers are two players down now, but the Doomlords don’t look to be letting up. Obhgus shunts Barak back, whilst Mornaargh and Udhgush drop Albric and Thogek to the ground.

DT4. Thogek is back on his feet and takes his anger out on Unrol, by introducing him to the astroturf. Backed up Thror rams a shoulder into the gut of Mornaargh and that blocker will need a minute. Flint weaves throughthe opening in centre field, and Storaz brings the new runner down. Kamnic not wanting to miss out on the fun has leapt and landed a powerful blow directly on Krolok’s head sending him to the dug-out to recover. Barak Dodges away from Thunderhorn and shields Flint’s from a rear attack.

Whoa! What was that? Well, it seems we’ve found out what Alkazaran was doing at the start of the match. A wizard from the Doomlord supporters has sent a fireball onto the field exploding over the downed beastman knocking Flint and Storaz to the floor the ball flying loose, it looks like Storaz is partially blinded by the light, though Kamnic showing what a slayer is made of and has taken the blast and is still standing, though a little charred.

CT4. Following the explosion, the new Gor stands up covering the ball and Obhgus moves up to assist the cover. Thunderhorn throws himself at Thror, gives up ground but stays on his feet with Thunderhorn gnarling with fury. Mazerakh tries to put pressure on the Grumbler’s line by throwing a block against Gotrimm, but the blocker stays on his feet. Whilst Udhgush and Thogek compete to see who has the thicker skull.

DT5. Gromnir blitz’s Obhgus shunting him to the ground, and Thogek goes after Thunderhorn, landing a tooth shattering blow knocking the minotaur to the floor head spinning, with Kamnic tacking the new gor to the floor. With one guard down Flint is up and, on the ball. Having no trouble scooping it up now and dodging away from Obhgus and the Grumbler’s form a partial cage.

CT5. The Doomlords are not giving up the fight yet, and that is really what this match as become. Odthul freely runs to Flint and with head down sends him reeling straight into the dug-out, I doubt he’ll be recovered in time for next match, and the ball again is loose, though Obhgus catches it on the bounce. Obhgus blocks Gromnir knocking him to the ground. Udhgush barges Albric back with Gholgur forcing Thror to give ground.

DT6. Kamnic is hitting back and Odthul taking the brunt end, his armour crumpling and is carried back to the dug-out, he won’t be recovered from that for the next game I bet. Seeing this, it looks like Thogek doesn’t want to be outdone, taking on Mornaargh and brings him down to the astrogranite seeing stars. Barak throws a shoulder into Obhgus, knocking him to the ground and catching the ball on the bounce. Thror isn’t a dwarf to back down and is taking on Mazerakh single handed. Grimnir must be watching as with a shot to the knee Mazerakh, and hit the ground hard (stun).

CT6. That growling can only mean one thing. Thunderhorn is awake and not best pleased, he sprints straight at Gromnir sending the dwarf straight back and down. With Thunderhorn inspiring Gholgur butts Kurgin to the ground.

DT7. The Grumblers have got the Doomlords on the back foot, Barak dodges away from the central brawl and heads for the touch line. Kamnic sends a blow into the unnamed Gor and sends him to the ground, followed with Thogek flooring Obhgus.

CT7. The Doomlords have one last chance to reach Barak. Thunderhorn roars and lunges at Gotrimm, but the dwarf block sidesteps and the minotaur trips.

DT8. With the path clear Barak puts on a burst of speed and is over the chalk seam. TOUCHDOWN!!!! 1-0 to the Grumblers.

With the final few seconds of the first half Kurgin comes on from the reserve box and Krolok has come round from his mid-game nap. The Grumblers set up with Thror, Albric and Gotrimm on the front line with Gromnir, Storaz and Kurgin as back up. Barak and the slayers staying back.

The Doomlords are lining the scrimmage with blockers on the front line centred by Thunderhorn, and the beast support in the back field.

There is the kick and the Grumblers are hitting fast with Kamnic knocks Krolok to the floor.

CT8. Thunderhorn’s anger seems to have overwhelmed him and he’s foaming and roaring. Mornaargh throws a spiked knee into Thror sending him from the pitch, and looks like he’ll be out of the rest of the game. The rest of the Chaos front line hammers the Grumbler’s line up, but the dwarfen armour holds. Unrol runs and picks up the ball, passing it to Udhgrur, but the throw is bad and it flies off randomly.

That’s the half time whistle, the Grumblers are ahead 1-0, but both teams have suffered casualties, the Grumblers taking the brunt of it.

The Grumblers are kicking this half they have taken the line in a defensive formation, and the Doomlords are looking to press their advantage with a strong front line and beasts to back and wings.

There’s the kick and the latest addition, who we’ve discovered is called Ulugos has caught the ball out of the air. Extra well done to him as over half time the clouds cleared and the sun is shinning brightly on the field.

CT9.  The Doomlords advance their back lines with some caution waiting for their opening. Mornaargh, Krolok, Mazerakh and Thunderhorn push the dwarf scrimmage back to clear some space.

DT9. Thogek leads the defences and shunts Udhgrur into the crowd, though this crowd is being tame and sending him straight back to the dug-out. The Grumblers seem to have changed tactics trying to keep the Doomlords just out of reach.

C10. The Doomlords are trying to hammer their way though. Thunderhorn picking up and slamming Gotrimm to the ground sending the dwarf’s head spinning. Ulugos hands the ball to Obhgus who moves along the back line looking for a way through. Udhgush opens a corridor by pushing Thogek back.

D10. Barak sensing danger moves back up the field to intercept any break through, and is joined by Thogek. Whilst Kamic knocks Udhgush to the floor with a charging shoulder barge.

CT11. Obhgus moves from one wing to the other in a hope to get through the central brawl. Mazerakh sends a stunning blow to Thorif, and with a swing of its horns Thunderhorn sends Albric onto his back.

DT11. Seeing an advantage Kamnic hurls himself at Udhgush sending the beastman back to the dug out for the remainder of the game. Spurred on by his slayer brother Thogek barrels into Mazerakh sending him to the ground, though his armour remains intact. Storaz makes Gholgur see stars with a shoulder to the gut.

CT12. The Doomlords are doing their best to break through the Grumblers line. Thunderhorn is pressing Albric but cannot break the dwarfs now dented armour. Mornaargh closes the gap with Storaz and sends him to the floor.

D12. Gromnir sprints to circle around the back of the Doomlords scrimmage line. Barak falls back out of the brawl to cover any break through once more. Both slayers head into the thick of the fighting pushing and shoving to keep the Doomlords from advancing. With grumbled oaths Storaz alone returns the blow against the Mornaargh, sending him clattering to the floor.

CT13. Mornaargh pulls himself up and bears down on Storaz delivering him such a blow that he’ll have one major headache (stun). Thunderhorn again sends Albric to the floor, and I thought it was dwarfs that were meant to hold grudges, but Thunderhorn has really picked this dwarf out. Unrol, gets up and ducks away from dwarfen clutches opening a corridor, but Ulugos’ inexperience shows as he tries to through a block at Gromnir, but the dwarf barges him first knocking him to the ground.

DT13. Grumblers continue to keep the Doomlords from breaking through, closing the corridor once more and creating barriers with Unrol’s fallen body. Gotrimm and Gromnir keep Mazerakh and Krolok away from the main brawl on the other side of the field.

CT14. Albric is knocked down once more, but by Gholgur. Thunderhorn now robbed of his fun charges at Kamnic sending the slayer into the dugout for a good sleep (KO’d). Obhgus moves to centre field still unable to get through any opening.

DT14. Barak with agility not common with dwarfs, manages to slip away from Thunderhorn’s reach and with head down rams into Obhgus. The gor is thrown to the floor screaming in pain, the stretcher is out and carrying him to the dug-out. With the ball loose the Grumblers are throwing caution to the wind and throwing themselves at the Doomlords and taking on their blockers one on one, sending them all back. Thogek, not to miss out on the carnage throws himself at Unrol, but the gor has caught his arm and with a twist and thud Thogek is on the floor, and did you hear that crack? I’m sure arms aren’t meant to bend that way. He’s definitely out of the match, and possibly the end of his career (-1 Strength).

CT15. With the last of the slayers off the field Thunderhorn roar’s his frustration into the air, and is working himself into a rage. Ulugos pushes Barak away from crowding the ball, allowing Mornaargh a chance to pick up the loose pall, but through the limited vision of the blockers helm, he can’t seem to find it and has kicked it away.

DT15. Despite the casualties the Grumblers are applying all the pressure they can on the Doomlords knocking Unrol and Gholgur down to the astrogranite.

CT16. With the time to short to score the Doomlords lay into the grumblers dealing out what pain they can.

DT16. As the clock ticks down, Barak tries to secure the ball, but just as he reaches it the whistle is blow.

Final score Gumblers 1, Doomlords 0.
